According to reports from Hindustantimes, a photojournalist Pratik Chorge discovered a deep pink water located towards the southeren end of the wetland in Mumbai on Thursday 15th of May 2020.
As the first week of May 2020, the pink water was not seen in the reported area until the late part of the second week.
The incident has been recorded as first of it kind with no certain cause discovered yet. It was presumed that this characteristic coloration of the water can happen due o microscopic algae and bacteria that produces beta-carotenoids that flamingos feed on giving them an orangish pink coloration.
