On April 20, 2024, AquaWorld proudly celebrated its 5th anniversary at the BNI Youth Centre, University of Ibadan. The event was a testament to our achievements and unwavering commitment to ocean conservation. As part of our tradition, we rotate the anniversary celebration across our hubs in various locations throughout Nigeria, reflecting the widespread impact of our work.
This year’s celebration brought together our Timeout members and supporters from over four states across Nigeria. The event featured a thought-provoking lecture on “Climate Fisheries-Resilient Strategies as Tools for Improving Ocean Conservation,” delivered by Mr. Kehinde Adejugbagbe, our Research Advisor. We also received a heartfelt goodwill message from Dr. Toyosi Igejogbon, our Programs and Events Advisor.
During the event, we highlighted several of our major projects, which have been pivotal in advancing our mission:
Fishers Prep:
An initiative focused on educating fishermen about climate change and promoting sustainable fishing practices.
Ocean Leaders Drive:
A community-driven project that empowers young leaders to address plastic pollution and advocate for ocean health.
Ocean Champions:
A program designed to engage students in activities related to ocean conservation, plastic pollution, and climate change.
The celebration underscored AquaWorld’s dedication to preserving our oceans and fostering a sustainable future. Our five-year journey has profoundly impacted many lives through advocacy, education, and community development. This milestone reaffirms our commitment to a brighter, healthier future for our planet.
