Aquaworld Successfully Retrieves 300kg of Waste During World Cleanup Day 2023

In alignment with our commitment to environmental sustainability, Aquaworld_CDI proudly celebrated World Cleanup Day 2023 across three states in Nigeria. Our organization, in partnership with Wasset, organized a series of cleanup activities targeting key locations in Oyo, Lagos, and Ondo states.

The first event took place on September 16th in Ibadan, Oyo State. We were joined by students from the University of Ibadan and residents from other locations in Ibadan. We commenced the cleanup from the University of Ibadan’s main gate and extended our efforts to Bodija Market, one of the city’s bustling commercial hubs.

A week later, on September 23rd, our hub in Lagos executed a clean-up at Lafiaji Beach. The Lagos cleanup was both effective and engaging, drawing attention to the importance of maintaining the health of our marine ecosystem.

Finally, the cleanup series concluded in Akure, Ondo State, where our hub members tackled waste accumulation along the Owena River, a significant water body in the region.

Across all locations, we mobilized over 60 enthusiastic youths who recognized the urgency of environmental action and were eager to contribute to a cleaner Nigeria. Together, the Aquaworld team successfully retrieved approximately 300 kilograms of waste, marking a significant achievement in our ongoing efforts to promote environmental health and sustainability.
