To mark World Ocean Day 2021, the Aquaworld team organized a series of impactful activities aimed at raising awareness and promoting ocean conservation. These events were held in collaboration with the Mundus Maris asbl chapter in Akure.

The celebrations began with a special radio broadcast on the Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA) radio station. Aquaworld’s leader, Paul Ayomide, joined representatives from Mundus Maris asbl to educate listeners about the detrimental effects of plastic waste on aquatic life. The discussion highlighted the urgent need for both behavioural and systemic changes to effectively tackle plastic pollution.
Following the radio program, the Aquaworld team conducted an outreach initiative at two secondary schools in Ogun State—Seed College and Vanguard Academy. During the outreach, students were enlightened about their connection to the ocean, the impact of their daily activities on aquatic ecosystems, and practical ways to contribute to the sustainability of aquatic life.
