A rare species of seahorse (Lemur tail; Hippocampus mohnilei) was found in river Mandovi in GOA by the Council of Scientific and Industrial Researcher from the National institute of Oceanography. The organism is said to be about the size of a human thumb. Researchers find the presence of the seahorse species in Goan waters surprising because it is known to inhabit the waters of Japan and Vietnam, just few have been reported to be sighted along the Indian sub-continent.
