Judith Ehigie
Judith Ehigie is a young environmental scientist interested in understanding environmental contaminants’ fate and behaviour. She has experience working with compounds of environmental concern, such as microplastics and emerging organic pollutants. She presented her research on microplastics in Pacific oysters at the Blue Think Conference ’22 in Portugal. She also investigated the fate of emerging organic compounds in horizontal subsurface flow-constructed wetland models. This research project provides information for implementing the full-scale set-up in Johannesburg, South Africa.
Furthermore, Judith participated as a Young Observer for Horizon Europe. She thus has first-hand knowledge of how the European Commission selects projects funded through Horizon Europe. Additionally, Judith seeks opportunities to develop her skills and impact science further.
