
Toyosi Igejongbo
Dr. Toyosi Igejongbo is a PhD holder in Fisheries Management from The Federal University of Technology, Akure, Nigeria, where she is working as a lecturer. She is an Ocean enthusiast and is also passionate about research. She has participated in a lot of local and international training that has equipped her to be an agent of positive change in the oceanography sector. Some of these are: The MASHAV Agricultural Training Course in Israel; Science Training in Nairobi, Kenya; Seafarers STCW, Denmark; Leadership Training in Mombasa, Kenya; Women’s Leadership, Alicante Province, Spain; Glider School, Gran Canaria Province, Spain; Innovative Fellowship for Aspiring Inventors (IFAIR), Abuja, Nigeria; Ocean Data Analysis with R Programming; OTGA.UNESCO/IOC Project Office for IODE. She presented her research findings at the World Aquaculture Society Conference, Aquaculture Europe, “Our Future Growing from Water,” Berlin, Germany.
Dr. Toyosi is a beneficiary of the Shipboard Training Fellowship and participated on board the acoustic monitoring survey of herring and sprat in the North Sea and adjacent waters (HERAS) hosted by the National Institute of Aquatic Resources (DTU-Aqua), Denmark. Dr. Toyosi Igejongbo has a TED talk on YouTube, Agspiration (Inspiring Stories in Agriculture), presented in Kenya. She is a fellow of the African Women in Agricultural Research and Development (AWARD) and a One Planet Laureate Candidate, where she works as an inter-generational network of scientist leaders to bolster the African and European research community She has also worked at the Department of Marine and Fisheries Sciences at the University of Ghana as a visiting scientist. She is currently doing post-doctoral research at PLOCAN (Oceanic Platform of the Canary Islands, Las Palmas, Spain), investigating the Impact of Changes in Climatic Variables on Marine Diversities.
Dr. Toyosi has over 20 publications in books, journals, and conference proceedings. She is a member of the Ocean Decade Global Stakeholders Forum and a gender expert for the Gender Youth Advocacy for Global Monitoring for Environment and Security (GMES), University of Ghana. She is also a member of networks like the World Aquaculture Society, Fisheries Society of Nigeria, European Aquaculture Society, and Organization for Women in Science and the Developing World (OWSD), amongst others. She also features on Ondo State Radiovision Cooperation (OSRC) to talk about wealth in the ocean. Dr. Toyosi Igejongbo is a representative member participating at the 67th Session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW67) in the United Nations, HQ. New York, USA.
